By applying Web development technology, your site can perform functional tasks, such as collecting data, editing content and communicating with clients. Dragonfly has developed various types of custom Web development projects over the years. We mainly use open source PHP, which reduces costs, development time, and opens the project to a vast amount of resources. Below are some detailed functions and features that Web development can achieve:

Content Management Systems
These systems allow you to edit, delete and add content to your Website without any coding knowledge. All of the editing is handled through an easy to use, password protected Web interface. This allows you to control your site anywhere you can get access to a Web connection, and on any computer with a standard Web browser. Windows, Linux, Mac, even an iPhone can be used.

A majority of our Websites have some derivative of a content management system. The initial cost of a content management site is a bit higher, but the cost savings are realized when most of the site's content can be managed in house by anyone with a computer. The client's Website can now be a direct communication tool to those outside the company. In addition, some of our clients have set up Intranet sites that designate a private area of the site for communication and file transfers between employees. Intranet sites are commonly used for Human Resources and sales support, allowing one simple log-in to access the files and information needed by a remote employee.

Online Customer/Employee databases
Another popular use for Web development is to create a user database. This allows your company to manage lists of people such as employees, clients, members, etc. Lists can be updated dynamically through registered users (such as with an eCommerce system), and even exported to Excel compatible files. Rather than relying on boxed software, (which functions using massive amounts of extraneous code), we develop custom systems that allow clients to incorporate the specific fields, categories and custom functions that work best for their business. This allows for a minimal and efficient use of code, which translate into a quicker and more responsive Website.

Product Management/eCommerce
When a company has several products or offerings, we often develop a custom system for online mangement. This allows clients to associate all types of content with a product, such as descriptive text, images, support documents, related items, and other dynamic information. With relationship databases, one product can now live under various categories of a Website; reducing the site's upkeep.
